We notice that we have access to 3x3 mines once again, and that clues come in many colors. Some of these colors are colors that have appeared in previous puzzles, while the others are mixtures of colors that have appeared in previous puzzles.
We see that yellow clues are clues that are both red and green, cyan clues are clues that are both blue and green, and magenta clues are clues that are both red and blue. We often see individual numbers in clues being magenta, which applies to only one section of the tapa clue.
The color definitions are as follows:
Black: Normal Minesweeper clues; they count the number of the 8 surrounding squares that contain mines.
Red: Clues must not be adjacent to 1x1 mines, and the number counts the number of 3x3 mines that touch the surrounding 8 squares.
Blue: Clues can contain multiple blue/magenta/cyan numbers. Each individual blue number counts the size of a consecutive segment of the surrounding 8 squares that contain mines.
Green: Clues are 1 greater or less than the number of the surrounding 8 squares that contain mines.
Magenta: Red + Blue. Clues can contain other blue/magenta/cyan numbers. Each individual magenta number counts the number of 3x3 mines making up a consecutive segment of the surrounding 8 squares.
Cyan: Blue + Green. Clues can contain other blue/magenta/cyan numbers. Each individual cyan number is 1 greater or less than the size of a consecutive segment of the surrounding 8 squares that contain mines.
Yellow: Green + Red. Clues must not be adjacent to 1x1 mines, and the number is 1 greater or less than the number of 3x3 mines that touch the surrounding 8 squares.
